Une visite en Normandie, octobre 2017
42 Y8 students and 5 teachers had a wonderful taste of French life in October in the beautiful and historical region of Normandy. Travelling by coach and ferry (even braving Storm Brian to get home!), the party stayed in the sleepy town of Lion-sur-mer in a purpose-built centre where they were treated to some traditional French foods.
Trips out included a moving and informative visit to Arromanches and its museums where students learnt about the D Day landings and subsequent ‘Battle of Normandy’; a visit to Bayeux and its famous tapestry; seeing how apple juice is made at the Manoir d’Apreval; a beautiful sunny morning exploring the harbour and markets at Honfleur and, of course, a quick stop in a hypermarket for those important presents.
